The Carnauba wax is a product used in a wide range of industries. Well-know as the “Queen of the Waxes” the Carnauba wax has a melting point bigger than others waxes (82-86°C) and it is the hardest natural wax. It is ideal for extremely strong covers, floor coatings, car polishes, amongst others. Also the Carnauba waxes is used in Cakes, paints, cosmetics and a lot of others compounds.
It is practically insoluble in water; the water can not break a coat of carnauba wax, only a few kind of solvents can do it generally in combination with heat. This means that the material has a high durability, it is water and evaporation- resistant.
Also it is used as cover for paper plates, dental floss and a vegetarian alternative to gelatine.
In the pharmaceutical industry it appears as the cover of tablets and it is used in a large number of food coverage. Unlike many others waxes with the protective layer of Carnauba wax it does not come undone as time goes by. This product is also regarded as ”Generally Recognized as Safe” (GRAS) for food and pharmaceutical purposes.
